The department of Political Science is one of the most important and largest department of Brahmaputra Degree College. It was established right from the inception of the college in 1993.The Department has produced thousands of graduates in political science since the beginning. Many of them have established themselves in various public and private sectors. The department introduced semester. system from the academic session 2012-2013 and Choice Based Credit System from the new academic. session of June 2019 with a revised syllabus prescribed by Dibrugarh University focusing on the emerging areas in political science. At present the Department offers courses in both Honours and non-Honours. The department has a library of its own that contains about 200 text and reference books. Despite regular co-curriculum activities like welcoming Fresher’s, Farewell and observance of Teachers’ Day, the department also regularly organizes its departmental seminars, annual Parent-Teachers-Students meet, students counselling session, published its wall magazine [UDAYAN] and departmental educational Tours and outings.
